SUFFOLK'S most expensive shack has been sold!

A woman who works in London has bought the rundown beach hut in Waldringfield which was on the market for just under £60,000.

Estate agent Spicer McColl was not able to give the details of how much the female buyer paid for it but said there had been "a lot of interest".

News of the beach hut had made national headlines after the press pack was left snapping at the Star's heels with its sensational property scoop.

Beach hut number 29 in Waldringfield was a tatty shack with two rooms, no running water and no electricity.

The owner is only allowed to stay there for two weeks at a time and because of the lack of utility services, she will have a trek to the nearest public toilet and will have to use bottled gas for cooking in the kitchenette.

Crazy prices have even affected the market for outdoor loos. A public convenience is being touted for up to £20,000 in Dorset.

The Waldringfield shack was in a poor condition and needed a lot of additional investment to get it back to its former glory.

The beach hut sits on 35 by 64 feet of land and was said to have been ideal for people living in the city looking for a weekend retreat in a picturesque sailing village.

Mark Page, of Spicer McColl, said the shed with a view was worth the extortionate price because beach huts were rarely put on the market. He added that the location and view from the hut was fantastic and the £59,995 price tag was relatively cheap compared to other holiday retreats in the area.

Beach huts in Southwold have sold for £55,000 before and one of the most expensive huts in Felixstowe fetched £15,000 in 1998.
