ATTEN-SHUN! The new manager of Claydon's village shop is looking to boost paper deliveries – particularly of your Evening Star!
That was the message from Les Marshall, a former bombardier in the Royal Artillery, who took over the running of the One Stop shop after managing a similar operation from deep behind enemy lines…in Norwich.
The 47-year-old widower moved from Norfolk in October and loves his new post.
"Claydon is a lovely village – it's a nice place," he said. "I want to build the shop up and when customers in, I hope they will be pleasantly surprised with the range, the promotions and the special offers."
These will include a special offer on Evening Star deliveries in March.
"We're trying build up the delivery side of things.
Thanking customers for their patience, he added: "I know there have been problems in the past but we are improving and there's still a little way to go."
Mr Marshall is used to moving around. He completed five tours of Northern Ireland and served in Germany and Cyprus during his 13-year Army career.
After leaving in 1983, the Lincolnshire man returned to work for the army running a NAAFI shop in Germany. For the last six years he has worked in retail in Norwich.
