A GANG of ram-raiders who smashed down the front doors of a village petrol station could be behind similar robberies, police believe.
The attackers, who left a trail of devastation behind them at the Suffolk business, are thought to have been after cigarettes worth thousands of pounds when they used a stolen car to break into the shop.
But the early-morning robbers were forced to flee the store at Glemsford, near Sudbury, with only a television and video recorder – leaving skid marks on the concrete forecourt.
Roger Ennis, who owns the Bowers Leisure shop and has the franchise for the attached Jet fuel station, said the gang struck at the store on the main road just outside the quiet village at around 3am yesterday.
