AN elderly woman was robbed in broad daylight and police are today appealing for witnesses to the attack which has left her shaken.

The attack happened at around 9.40am on Saturday when the 85-year-old was walking towards the town centre in Haverhill.

She was walking on a footpath near to the sports centre in Ehringhausen Way when she saw a man sitting on a bench.

The man then approached her from behind and snatched her bag from her arm.

He then ran off down Vange Close.

The attacker is described as a white male, 5ft 6in and about 30 years old.

He was stocky with a round face and was wearing a black woollen hat and a black three-quarter length coat.
