Have your say on the town’s road network
Hundreds of motorists have taken part in the Ipswich Star’s big roadworks watch survey - and you have until tomorrow night to have your say too.
Around 1,500 people have answered survey questions about the state of the town’s roads network and whether it has got better or worse in the last five years.
Over the last week Anglia Water has undertaken works in Upper Brook Street, College Street, Ley Street, Wherry Lane and Foxhall Road.
Road repairs have been carried out on Stone Lodge Lane and temporary traffic lights set up on Holywells Road and Main Road through Kesgrave.
Comments have flooded Facebook since the survey went online with drivers eager to voice their frustrations.
We asked on the page whether you thought the roads system was being managed properly.
Brian Lawrance didn’t think so.
“No they have been very poorly managed as per normal” he said.
Linda MacFarlane said she wouldn’t mind the works if the roads were repaired properly.
She said: “One road repair near me has been done three times as all they do is put Tarmac in the hole rather than repairing properly like they did years ago.
“It’s not cost effective the way they do it today.”
Nicky Martin added: “Nothing new these days. It is appalling.
“The insistence on installing traffic lights as well as badly planned road works is leaving the poor Ipswich motorist in a queue just about every day.”
Phil Mwife added that they seem to do it better abroad.
“We could certainly learn a lot from Japan and New Zealand,” he said.
