Youngsters braved the cold to try to spot signs of spring at Holywells Park in Ipswich.
The children took part in the Ipswich Wildlife Watch Group event at the park.
Organised by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, the group tries out a range of activities each month.
At Saturday’s event children took part in an early Easter Egg hunt.
As well as finding chocolate treats the team also combined the search with a natural treasure hunt, finding items such as a pine cone.
Alex Stadler, one of the co-ordinators of the Ipswich Wildlife Watch Group, said: “It was quite cold, and it actually got colder at one point, so it was pretty quiet.
“It is moving into spring but we are not quite there yet.
“Holywells Park is a bit behind the rest of the weather because it is very sheltered.
“At the moment there are only the usual winter animals, woodpeckers and squirrels, that sort of thing.
“However our next event will be Save the Frogs Day and we hope to find more wildlife around as the weather warms up.”
The next event takes place on Saturday April 11 from 10am until 12 noon, meeting at the Cliff Lane entrance by the Stable Block.
It is suitable for children aged 6-12 and parents are welcome to stay.
