A SCOUT leader has been recognised for his years of service to the organisation and for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Richard Peace, Assistant Cub Scout leader with the 1st Orwell Sea Scouts, was recommended for the Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service, and he was presented with the award last week.
Mr Peace, an editorial technician at Archant Suffolk, has been a part of the Scouts for the last 13 years.
On top of his normal duties, he has also helped with district and county events as well as making up the county’s Scouts newsletter.
He said: “I was honoured to receive it, it was very good.
“There was a nice surprise because one of my ex-Cubs baked a cake as well.”
The award was presented to Mr Peace by county commissioner Jenny Mullan during the Sea Scouts’ weekly meeting, held in Nacton Village Hall.
