HUNDREDS of pounds has been raised for a young woman whose courage has touched the hearts of countless people.

Cystic fibrosis Kerry Thorpe’s battle for a double lung transplant has inspired readers to join the donor list and raise cash for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

The Star launched the fund after a member of the public came forward wanting to donate money to ensure she has the wedding of her dreams and to help improve her quality of life.

So far, 565 has been donated to the fundraising effort.

In 2010, doctors gave Kerry 18 months to live but she continues to defy them and is determined to fight the disease.

She came forward to tell her story in The Star in hope of raising awareness of the disease.

Kerry was finally added to the transplant list earlier this year after a year-long battle to put on weight, maintain her health and keeping infections at bay.
