A PROUD pensioner has spent weeks working on a memorial garden to his lost friends.
Donald Garnham, 90, created this garden in memory of his fallen comrades outside his home in Maidenhall Approach.
Mr Garnham created the garden himself from scratch, carving all the wooden words that form the centrepiece of the garden by hand.
He said: “I’ve always been interested in growing plants. I made it in memory of my comrades who were killed and also my young brother who was killed.”
Mr Garnham served in the Royal Corp of Military Police in the 1940s for five years, spending most of that time abroad, travelling through Africa, Italy, Greece and Macedonia.
