The former chief executive of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Fred Goodwin, will be stripped of his knighthood.
He was given the honour in 2004 for services to banking but he was criticised in 2008 after the bank nearly collapsed.
The Ipswich Star led the calls for Sir Fred to be stripped of his title.
And with the loss of thousands of jobs in the industry and pressure from politicians, Mr Goodwin’s title has been removed
Political leaders including David Cameron led the calls for the knighthood to be taken away.
