INTERNET users have now created musical tributes to a convicted criminal who is on the run from a Suffolk jail.
Craig “Lazie” Lynch fled Hollesley Bay open prison, near Woodbridge, in September as he neared the end of a seven-year sentence for aggravated burglary.
The 28-year-old has been using social networking website Facebook to taunt police - mocking officers for not finding him, publishing photographs of him on the run and agreeing to attend events in upcoming months.
More than 40,000 people have signed up to “fan” pages dedicated to Lynch and there have even been t-shirts made with his photo on.
However the criminal has also faced a backlash from the online community and Facebook has closed down his personal page.
But now two songs have been posted on video website YouTube charting Lynch's exploits.
It includes a folk type ballad entitled the crazy craig lynch song, which has been viewed by 2,304 people.
The lyrics include: “Crazy Craig Lazie Lynch, busted out of prison like it was a cinch, now the English bounty hunt on with no trails, can they catch him? Only time will tell.”
Meanwhile Wil E Haze has created a hip hip song called Craig Lazie Lynch - Not So Lazie, which has been listened to by 2,034 people.
Lynch, who has since set up a new page under the name Maximus Justice, has also posted a reference to a video of himself enjoying the London fireworks surrounded by policemen in Westminster, London at New Year,
But another recent post indicated officers were closing in on the runaway convict.
“Police have just towed two of my vehicles away on trucks and ransacked my business,” it read. “They think it is going to cripple me, the fools. I was going to hand myself in 15 Jan, well not now.”
Last night a spokeswoman for Suffolk police confirmed that Lynch was still at large.
She said officers continued to work with other forces in an effort to locate the criminal and asked anyone who may know his whereabouts to get in touch.
- Anyone with information about Lynch's whereabouts is asked to call Suffolk police on 01473 613500 or contact their nearest police station.
