A TEENAGER has died after he jumped in front of a train in Ipswich, police have confirmed.

FLORAL tributes were laid this afternoon for an 18-year-old man who died after jumping in front of a train in Ipswich.

Family members gathered at the site on Woodbridge Road - where the man jumped from the bridge at around 12:10am this morning.

Police confirmed that the man, who was being cared for at the side of the railway line after the incident occurred, later died at Ipswich Hospital after suffering from life threatening injuries.

It appeared the man jumped from the bridge on Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, next to the Case is Altered pub, which caused the substantial injuries.

Inspector Tony Woodward, control room supervisor at Suffolk police said: “Officers driving along Woodbridge Road spotted a man standing looking over the bridge.

“Within a couple of minutes he threatened to jump and swung his legs over the parapet before jumping in front of an oncoming train.”

Suffolk Constabulary is currently investigating the details surrounding the death.
