SCUNTHORPE are positive Saturday's home Championship game against Ipswich Town will go ahead. They have put extra frost covers on areas of the ground that normally cause problems.
They will check the pitch early in the morning. Referee Andy Haines is staying locally overnight so will be on hand if there is a need for a pitch inspection before 9am to give Town fans enough notice if needed.
If temperatures drop low again tonight there may be a problem, but at the moment they are confident the game will be on.
The covers are supposed to work down to minus four degrees. Last winter this happened and a game against Cheltenham had to be postponed on the morning of the game.
A spokesman said: “The ground already had moisture in it on that day. However this week they have had the covers on since Wednesday so that shouldn't, fingers crossed, happen again.”
