TESCO at Copdock opened up their caf in the early hours of the morning to give free bacon sandwiches and hot drinks to motorist unable to get home.
Night manager Joe Cosgrave took the decision as the number of drivers entering the superstore seeking warm refuge rose from a trickle to more than 100.
Although the shop trades for 24 hours a day, the in-store caf is usually closed overnight, Mr Cosgrave opened it specially to provide snacks and drinks.
From 11.30pm to 1am, 120 bacon sandwiches and hot drinks were issued free of charge.
A spokesman for the store said: “We were pleased to do our bit to help motorists who otherwise would have been stuck in their cars in unpleasant and cold weather conditions.”
