IPSWICH: A man is today facing the prospect of a prison sentence after admitting fondling another man's genitals without his consent, a court has heard.

Carl Fisher, of Highfield Road, Ipswich, has been warned he could be jailed after pleading guilty to a charge of sexual assault on a male.

South East Suffolk Magistrates' Court heard the incident happened on August 10 when the 25-year-old victim had driven to Nacton foreshore for a run.

The victim got out of his vehicle noticing Fisher, 40, nearby. Justices were told he felt uncomfortable and so got back into his car pretending to make a phone call, hoping the defendant would go away.

When Fisher disappeared out of sight his victim went for a run along the foreshore but when he returned to his car Fisher approached him and began talking to him.

As the man got into the driver's seat of his car, Fisher opened the door and placed his hand on the man's genitals and began fondling him.

When his victim made it clear to Fisher he was not comfortable and not of that inclination the defendant stopped and ran off.

It was not until the 25-year-old told his girlfriend that she persuaded him to report the incident to the police.

Ian Duckworth, mitigating, said Fisher's victim had been fully clothed when the sexual assault took place.

Magistrates ordered a full pre-sentence report by the probation service before sentencing him.

Chairman of the bench John Clements warned Fisher the court would consider a community order as well as a potential prison sentence.

He was bailed to return to the court for sentencing on November 16.
