FAME and fortune came a step closer for a Witham man who won over the judges on popular ITV show The X Factor.
Olly Murs, 25, is one of only 24 hopefuls left on the annual talent show which aims to find the singing star of tomorrow.
Millions of viewers tuned in on Sunday night to see master of mean Simon Cowell and his fellow judges Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh, reduce the number of wannabes from 50 to just 24.
Lucky Olly was among those chosen to go through and will be mentored by Simon along with the five other contestants in the over-25 group.
This weekend viewers will see the group travel to Simon's home in Los Angeles where they will compete to be chosen for the X Factor final and the chance of a recording contract.
