A GRANDMOTHER from Ipswich will be going head-to-head with Anne Robinson in The Weakest Link tonight.
Sylvia Childs is remaining tight-lipped about whether the nation would see her win up to 10,000 or leave with nothing.
But she did reveal that she was the strongest link in one round.
During the show, aired on BBC1 at 5.15pm today, Ms Robinson, who is known as the Queen of Mean for her put-downs, refers to the 65-year-old as “old Sylvia”.
But Mrs Childs, of Lattice Avenue, said the presenter's fearsome reputation isn't as scary as people think.
She said: “As I'm only a year older than her I thought her comment was quite funny. She is lovely. Underneath it all she is just playing along. It is all tongue-in-cheek.”
Mrs Childs, who describes her general knowledge as “average”, applied to go on the quick-fire quiz after seeing an advert in The Evening Star.
She took part in a run-through with producers at a hotel in Colchester then filmed the show at the Shepperton Studios in October last year.
Filming took two to three hours and involved several takes to make sure every contestant was holding their voting boards correctly.
Off set, Mrs Childs shook Ms Robinson's hand and had a quick chat, but she remained coy about what they said to each other.
