AN uplifting sell-out concert boosted Ipswich's festive spirit - and the coffers of a worthy cause.
Ipswich Sings Christmas was staged in front of a packed audience at the Corn Exchange with all proceeds going to the Somebody's Daughter appeal.
Organised by the Ipswich Choral Society, the concert featured stunning performances from the Salvation Army Band and school choirs from Grundisburgh Primary, St Margaret's Primary and East Bergholt High.
There was even a special appearance of popular The Suffolk Deaf Association Signing Choir, who used sign language to spread a little Yuletide happiness.
In all, more than 700 was raised for Somebody's Daughter.
The choral society's Martin Nightingale said: “It was a fantastic experience - people came and really entered into the spirit of the concert.
“The school choirs were phenomenal and brought a special joy to the whole of the celebration, while the deaf choir demonstrated how well you can communicate without words.”
Somebody's Daughter, the concert's beneficiary, is a registered charity launched by The Evening Star and Ipswich Borough Council in late 2006 to support vulnerable young people in Ipswich.
