Budding performers from across Ipswich are being given the chance to join the professional cast of Peter Pan at the town's largest theatre.

Open auditions for the role of Wendy will take place at the Regent Theatre on Sunday, September 25, from 2pm.

The show will be this year's Christmas pantomime, with rehearsals starting on December 2 and performances running from December 16 - 31.

The successful candidate will handed a professional contract and will join a star-studded cast, including EastEnders and Dancing on Ice star, Matt Lapinskas and Darren Day as Captain Hook.

Producer Guy Pascall said: “It's going to be a fantastic production and what an amazing opportunity for a local actress to gain valuable professional experience in the panto and to start them off on their own glittering career."

Hopefuls will be provided the chance to audition in front of the panto's creative team and will be asked to perform one song of their choice.

A backing track should be brought along to the audition and performers will be asked to read some of the panto's script.

Musical director Jezz Weatherall said: "Wendy Darling is one of the best pantomime parts for an actress to play and we'll be looking for someone that can sing, dance and act to a very high standard.

"As well as a fantastic star cast, the panto will also include some amazing flying sequences, which of course, Wendy Darling will be very much a part of."

The successful actor will then be whisked to Neverland to join the boy who never grew up and meet some fantastical characters along the way; Tinker Bell, the Lost Children, Tiger Lily, Nana the dog, Pirates, Smee and the villainous Captain Hook.

No registration is required for the audition this weekend, though auditionees must be over the age of 18.
