Two hairdressers from an Ipswich salon who stand out with their “confidence to experiment and attention to detail” have reached the finals of a prestigious competition.

Chantel Brandon and Marnie Webb from The Deesigner Hair Studio located in the Buttermarket Centre have been recognised by the Hair & Beauty Awards 2023.

Chantel has reached the finals in the categories of Hair Stylist of the Year, Best Colour Salon and Best for Blonde, while Marnie is the finalist in the Barber of the Year category.

The hairdressers from the Ipswich salon entered the competition by answering questions about the industry and submitting their work.

Chantel said: “I’ve been waiting a few weeks for the first nomination, which was Hair Stylist of the Year. Then, about a week later, the other two nominations came through.

“It feels a little bit scary to be recognised in such competition, but it’s a good promotion for our salon. I feel very good as a finalist.”

Marnie was even more surprised as only today she found out about her nomination.

She said: “I’m very excited about being the finalist in the barber category.

“I’m now doing my apprenticeship in ladies' hairdressing, which is also very interesting.”

The hairdressers said they cannot wait to take part in the awards ceremony, which will take place in Birmingham in April 2023.

Chantel who is a hairstylist and a barber said that she always wanted to be a hairdresser.

She added: “As soon as I left school, I’ve done an apprenticeship in hairdressing. Then I qualified further and gained my Level 3.

“If it comes to the hairdressing industry, I’ve done as much as I could possibly do.”

The team of The Deesigner Hair Studio, said they are delighted that Chantel and Marnie’s hard work, willingness to learn, confidence to experiment and attention to detail have been noted by the judges who have chosen them for the finals.
