From the country parks to award-winning fish and chip shops there are plenty of things that make Ipswich great.
We asked our readers to pick out the nicest thing about the Suffolk town.
Here are the seven most common answers.
Christchurch Park
A place that came up, again and again, was Christchurch Park.
The much-loved Ipswich beauty spot was recently named the best 'local favourite' at a national awards ceremony.
The park, which is owned by Ipswich Borough Council, was the first public park to open in the town back in 1895 and extends over 33 hectares.
Christchurch Park was awarded Green Flag status, which recognises high levels of maintenance, earlier this year.
Waterfront
Home to a number of bars, restaurants, and cafes, the Waterfront is a popular place for many in Ipswich.
The Waterfront is also one of the most Instagrammable places in Suffolk.
For those wanting to get into the festive spirit, the bauble Christmas tree has also been put in place by the University of Suffolk.
ITFC
Ipswich Town's Portman Road was another popular place on the list.
A place where many go to support the boys in blue.
Nacton Shores
Located on the north side of the River Orwell, Nacton Shores is an island of green and calm offering views over the Orwell to Pin Mill.
It is a perfect place to watch the ships journey up the River Orwell from the sandy beaches.
Nacton Shores was a popular place for many to go to when they were growing up in the town.
Award-winning fish and chip shops
Ipswich is spoilt for choice when it comes to fish and chip shops.
Two names that appeared on a number of occasions were Ipswich Codfella's and Nacton Road Fish Bar.
Ipswich Codfella's was recently shortlisted for chippie of the year at the Fish and Chip Takeaway of the Year Awards.
Nacton Road Fish Bar is another Ipswich chippie that's been recognised on the national stage, having won a Good Food Award.
In the 2020 awards, judges said Nacton Road Fish Bar had “some of the tastiest chips in the UK”.
Suffolk Food Hall
A really popular place for foodies that attracts visitors from all over the county.
Founded in 2007 by cousins Oliver and Rob Paul, the gourmet food store can be found in a converted farm building overlooking the river Orwell, and underneath the bridge that crosses it.
Orwell Country Park
The Orwell Country Park is a great place to spend the day roaming through the woodlands.
The route takes you out to the Orwell Bridge – one of Suffolk's most iconic landmarks.
The walk is also dog friendly.
