A 31-year-old Ipswich man has been sentenced after admitting a string of offences, including assault of a police officer.
Police were called to an address in Henley Road after it was broken into in the early hours of last Friday.
A stained glass window was smashed in order to gain entry to the property.
A man was arrested a short while later and taken to Martlesham police investigation centre for questioning.
Derrick Lyons, of no fixed abode but from the Ipswich area, was subsequently charged with assault of a police officer, assault by beating, criminal damage and possession of cannabis.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Suffolk Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
Lyons admitted the offences and was ordered to pay £780 in compensation, given a one year restraining order and detained for 28 days for non-payment of a fine.
