A sister duo are fulfilling their childhood dreams by opening a new salon together in Ipswich.

Co-owners of Tate - Joanne Snell, 34, and Leanne Snell, 31 - have been handed the keys for their new property and are now working on renovating it in time to open at the beginning of April.

"We are so happy to be starting a new venture, but more excitingly, we're doing this together," said Joanne.

"It's always been our dream to open hair and beauty salons as a team and our parents are so proud of us."

The sisters are bringing both of their speciaities together for their new business, with Joanne offering the hair services and Leanne offering beauty therapy.

Joanne said that working full-time while preparing for their opening is "a challenge, but definitely worth it."

"Mum and dad have been helping out when they can since we picked up the keys," she added.

"It's a real family effort and they're so proud of what we're achieving."

The pair came up with the new name together and decided to call their salon Tate, an old English word meaning cheerful.

They added that when it's finished, it's going it's going to have a "super clean, modern and welcoming look".

They believe the slightly out of town premises will make it easier to access for their customers due to the free parking.

"We grew up in Felixstowe, so we know the area," they added.

"We actually worked together at the salon that was there before, so we're excited to be doing it again with our own business this time."

The sister duo are working hard to get ready for their opening party in early Spring.

Landlord Mark Storey said: "We are really excited for Jo and Leanne and hope their new business thrives in this fantastic location.

"The newly-decorated shop floor is spacious, with ample parking for all of their clients, who we hope will enjoy a wonderful salon experience."
