The search is ongoing a month on for lifesaving equipment that went missing a month after its very first use.

The defibrillator funded by Newton Road Conservative Club was purchased in August 2022 and was put outside its building in Newton Road in Ipswich.

The defibrillator was used for the first time on December 24 and a month has yet to be returned.

Tony Goldrick from the Newton Road Conservative Club said: “We believe that the equipment has been taken to a hospital with whoever it had been used on but it has not been returned to us.

“We raised something between £1,500 and £1,800 to purchase the defibrillator.

“We're not very happy because there's this big campaign all over the country now and they trying to get people to get defibrillators.

“We funded one without any outside support and it just went missing.

“The company should be able to locate it but there must be some error if they can’t find it.”

Councillor Elizabeth Harsant, a Conservative borough councillor for the Holywells ward, said that ambulances, police and GPs should be contacted to see if they have the defibrillator in one of their vehicles.

Cllr Harsant added: "I was at the club last week and was shocked to hear that the very first time the defibrillator was used it was never returned.

"The club raised the money themselves through their members and it was very hard to do this.

"I'm sure whoever has this or whose life was saved by it would not want to see the club lose this wonderful facility."

Labour Councillor for Holywells George Lankester said that he is "deeply concerned" about the missing defibrillator.

He added: "We know that to help someone survive cardiac arrest, quick access to a defibrillator is vital, which is why it was so positive to see the great work of the club in helping fundraise for one.

"I am keen to help ensure it is reinstalled as soon as possible for the good of everyone in our local community."

Ipswich MP Tom Hunt added: "This is really quite appalling. The club worked extremely hard to raise the funds for this defibrillator.

"I really hope they’re able to find it and that it’s safely returned.”
