Residents have been warned of bogus salesmen after Nottingham Knockers were reported visiting homes in a village on the Shotley peninsula.

Suffolk Trading Standards said the suspects were targeting homes in Brantham, south of Ipswich, on Tuesday evening.

One resident said the traders became aggressive when they refused to buy from them.

Nottingham Knockers are individuals claiming to have been in prison and on a youth offending scheme, attempting to mend their ways.

They will try and sell everyday products to homeowners at very high prices.

They often work in organised groups and many do not possess Pedlar's Certificates, which are issued by police.

Nottingham Knockers were reported visiting homes in Stowmarket earlier this year.

Anyone who believes they have been visited by Nottingham Knockers is urged to contact Citizens Advice Consumer Service.
