The A14 between Ipswich and Felixstowe has reopened after it was closed for almost six hours due to a serious crash.

Emergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway by the Seven Hills Interchange at about 7am on Monday.

The crash involved a car and a lorry, Suffolk police said.

The road was subsequently closed between junctions 58 and 59, by the Trimley villages.

A man was taken to Ipswich Hospital in a serious condition as two air ambulances landed at the scene.

National Highways confirmed the road had reopened shortly before 1pm – almost six hous after the crash was first reported.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage of the area is asked to contact the Joint Norfolk & Suffolk Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting incident reference number 37/5821/23.
