The first sign of spring has emerged as snowdrops appear in Martlesham.

Photos were taken at St Mary's Church in Martlesham Creek on February 8 that show the turn of the season.

Snowdrops are usually the first indicator that spring is on its way, with many forming in early February.

Spring does not officially start until March 20.

Professional photographer, Charlotte Bond, said: "It was lovely to capture the first glimpses of spring, the blooming snowdrops and the crocuses have filled the churchyard at St Mary’s, Martlesham.

"The days are getting lighter and the weather is slowly improving."

The Met Office has however recently warned that a major Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) may occur in late February.

In 2018, a major SSW bought the Beast from the East to Suffolk, and now The Met Office has announced that another major SSW is "now likely to take place."
