A series of roadworks have been causing delays along a busy route in Ipswich including a road closure for emergency works.

On Wednesday, February 8, Cadent Gas began work in Woodbridge Road, which connects the town centre with Ipswich Hospital, at the junction with Bramley Hill.

Multi-way traffic signals were put in place to direct traffic as utility repair and maintenance works began.

These will continue to operate until midnight on Thursday, Ferbruary 16 and should be clear by Friday.

Additionally, there are more roadworks along Woodbridge Road by the junction with Warwick Road.

Work by UK Power Networks has resulted in a road closure due to "deep excavations", Suffolk Highways said on Twitter.

A footway closure is also being enforced in the area, according to One Networks.

The work is expected to be completed by midnight on Friday, February 17.

Until then, a diversion route has been put in place which takes drivers along Lacey Street and North Hills Road and vice versa.

First Ipswich also confirmed that bus services will be diverted until Friday as the emergency work is completed.
