Commuters were surprised when their daily travel included a film crew taking over a train as it passed through Suffolk on Monday.

Two services from London Liverpool Street to Norwich played host to the crew and British film and TV star Martin Freeman, who was spotted as part of the production.

Jack Skevington, 23, saw the filming taking place as he boarded the train at Stowmarket.

He said: "On my commute to work, I got on the train from Stowmarket to Norwich and as I was about to get on, I was asked to move down as they had booked out two carriages for filming.

"There was a massive crew on board the train.

"As I got to Norwich and got off the train, they all got off as well and that is when I spotted Martin Freeman."

It is not yet known which project the film crews were working on.

A spokesperson for the rail company said: "We can confirm film crews were on board two of our services between London Liverpool Street and Norwich yesterday.

“We regularly facilitate filming on our trains and stations.

"We have successfully collaborated on a range of projects, including the Amazon Original Jack Ryan, BBC’s Killing Eve, I Hate Suzi, ASOS fashion shoots and much more.

“All filming is overseen by our film liaison consultant to ensure customers are not inconvenienced.

"Anyone who is interested in filming on our trains or stations should complete the form on our website.”

This is the most recent filming to take place at a train station in Suffolk, with The Detectorists Boxing Day special being shot at Saxmundham.
