The date for this year’s Pride has finally been announced, and excitement is already building for the march.

Held in Ipswich, this is an annual event to celebrate LGBTQ+ people from all around the country – and a reminder that the freedoms they fought for were hard-won.

This year’s Pride will be held on July 15.

While summer might seem a long way off, work is underway to create a spectacular day.

The theme for this year’s Pride is ‘queerness through the decades’, and there will be a particular emphasis on bridging the gap between young and older members of the LGBTQ+ community.

There will also be a focus on making the day as disability-friendly and inclusive as possible. This will build on the work of last year’s Pride, which aimed to create Suffolk’s most accessible Pride to date

Pride has welcomed many new members to its committee, and this will be the first Suffolk Pride for many of them.

Last month, Pride’s press officer Karl Lankester shared her experience as a trans woman in honour of International Women’s Day.

Meanwhile, former Pride chair Ellena Woolf shared her experience last year, and said that Ipswich was 'quietly supportive' of trans people
