Nearly 1,300 unsafe musical egg shakers have been seized at the Port of Felixstowe.

The import surveillance team detained a total of 1,295 items from a consignment at the port.

It was found that the products presented a serious risk of choking. During a drop and impact test, the smaller inner balls were released after the eggs broke.

They were also incorrectly labelled and technical documentation could not be matched.

The flexible plastic bags used for packaging were tested and posed an asphyxiation hazard due to their size.

As a result of being detained, the products, which were destined for Amazon, have been removed from sale.

More than 300 electrical heaters were seized by Suffolk Trading Standards earlier this month, as well as a tonne of pork that was illegally smuggled into the country.
