Plans have been submitted to set up a new car park at Ipswich Hospital.

The proposal includes the demolition of four sheds and converting the land into 18 car parking spaces.

The car park would be located at the western perimeter of the hospital site backing onto the gardens of houses in Lattice Avenue.

The spaces will be exclusively for the use of hospital staff and will be in operation from 8am until 6pm.

The proposal submitted by East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) to Ipswich Borough Council's planning and development committee also includes the redesign of one existing car parking space into an accessible space.

The sheds that are set to be demolished had been previously used by the hospital works department as workshops and to store materials.

The new car park would be separated from the properties to the north in Lattice Avenue by retaining the existing chain link fence and by setting up a close-board timber fence in front of it.

ESNEFT's proposals will be discussed in a meeting next week.
