Students from an Ipswich primary school “grilled” the local MP with questions, as he visited the school.
Ipswich MP Tom Hunt visited Cliff Lane Primary School and talked to students about the work he does as a Member of Parliament, such as, voting on laws, how he works hard to represent his constituents' wishes and needs alongside the work he does locally.
The organisers of the meeting said that students “politely grilled” their guest, asking him questions on a number of matters.
The School Learning Council asked the MP about Ipswich Town Centre, parking, immigration and SEND provision in schools.
They said that MP Hunt was very informative, as he replied to all the children's questions.
Carrie Broom, the school’s headteacher, said: “It was wonderful to welcome Tom back to Cliff Lane.
“He is a strong supporter of the school and the children enjoyed asking him questions.”
MP Hunt also talked about the work he has been involved with such as improving education, the town centre, potholes and his involvement with Orwell Bridge and getting a variable speed limit installed to lessen the number of closures.
He was asked about his support of SEND students, his own dyslexia and dyspraxia and his ambitious views on how all students with varying needs should be supported.
Tom Hunt MP said: “It was a pleasure to have my second proper visit to the school and to talk to in detail with the school council members.
"They were extremely impressive young people, with a great passion for the Town. I have always been greatly impressed by the school.”
The students hope to visit the MP at the Houses of Parliament in the summer term.
