Once upon a time, it felt like every street you walked down had somewhere to grab a quick pint.

Over the years, the number of pubs in Ipswich, like everywhere, has reduced, but the fond memories made still remain for those who frequented the establishments.

Here is a handful of pubs that our readers would reopen in the town if they could...

The Earl Roberts was renamed from General Gordon in 1985 after a refit and could be found in Cox Lane.

This popular live music venue closed in June 1998 and was demolished.

In the 80s and 90s, Newt and Cucumber had a very good reputation for real ale.

The Falcon Street pub became New York Exchange Bar after its closure.

The Heathlands

The Heathlands was a favourite for those who lived in the Foxhall Road area and was also popular among sports fans.

After closing down in May 2013, the building has become a Tesco Extra.

The Blooming Fuchsia

Perhaps one of the best named pubs to depart Ipswich was The Blooming Fuchsia.

It was located at the junction of Fuchsia Lane and Foxhall Road before being demolished in 2010 to make way for housing.

The Hare & Hounds

The Hare & Hounds pub is sorely missed by those who were regulars and it was once branded one of the 'toughest' pubs in Britain on a Sky One TV show.

The Norwich Road establishment closed its doors for the final time in 2010 before being purchased by Coe's.

The Garland

Situated in Humber Doucy Lane, The Garland was a hugely popular pub for nearly a century, after gaining its name in 1927.

The last pint was poured on the closing night in January 2014 and the building was demolished two years later with the site developed for housing.
