Get your cameras at the ready because the Northern Lights will be visible over Suffolk skies once again this evening.

There is a chance the aurora borealis wil be visible from about 11pm tonight (April 20).

Skies are expected to remain clear and the et Office said minor geomagnetic storms - what makes the Northern Lights visible - are likely in the coming days.

The Northern Lights are likely to be seen by the coast but Suffolk has a number of places that are perfect for spotting the phenomenon.

Budding photographers managed to capture the Northern Lights all over the county in March

Aurora is caused by atoms and molecules in our atmosphere colliding with particles from the sun, according to the Royal Museums Greenwich.

The wavy patterns of light are caused by the lines of force in the earth's magnetic field, and the different colours are made by different gasses - the green is characteristic of oxygen, while the purple, blue or pink are caused by nitrogen.
