About 2,000 people attended the first in a series of monthly farmers and artisan markets taking place in Christchurch Park, Ipswich.

Organised by Prestige County Event on April 23, there was a wide range of products available such as fresh goose and duck eggs straight from Constable Farm and homemade healthy dog treats.

There were also cheeses, chutney, handmade pies, craft beer, cakes, soaps, homewares, pottery, skincare, crystal jewellery, gin, candles and art.

Event organiser Darren Perry said: "We are so grateful to everyone who turned up in support of our new market and the small businesses who traded with us.

"Many of our stallholders had record-breaking sales numbers, with some selling out completely before lunchtime.

"We enjoyed chatting to all the locals who came to see us in the Prestige tent and hearing their feedback on what they would like to see in the future.

"The main request was for more fresh produce and a greater number of stalls, so we are pleased to announce that from next month we have an award-winning butcher and fresh bread stall joining us.

"We will also be expanding the seating area with more tables and chairs and introducing blankets that visitors can borrow from us to enjoy the park."

The event, in association with Ipswich Borough Council, now takes place on selected Sundays from April to September, on the main pathway that runs from the Fonnereau Road entrance up to the Round Pond from 9.30am to 2pm.

The next market will be at Christchurch Park on May 21, with future dates falling on June 25, July 23, August 20 and September 24.
