Pubs around Ipswich have spoken of their delight in hitting record numbers for sales and customers after Ipswich Town won promotion back to the Championship.

With a 6-0 win over Exeter City on Saturday, April 29, Town were promoted – with many fans, players and staff going out in Ipswich to enjoy the evening.

Many of the players visited various locations around the town, with Wes Burns, Leif Davis, Nathan Broadhead and Harry Clarke all going to Curve Bar just after the win.

Fred Tai, general manager at Curve, said: "It was really busy.

"We had record sales and record numbers – so much that it got to the point where we had run out of beer, so we had to ask the Colchester branch to bring some beer up for us.

"That has never happened in our history so it was crazy.

"Such a brilliant atmosphere, no one causing any problems, just everyone absolutely loving it."

The players spent much of Saturday evening at Bloom Lounge in Tacket Street with fans.

Joshua Adams, general manager, said: "We were honoured that players chose to spend their evening with us.

"Our sales were very strong and as far as I am aware, the entire squad celebrated with us.

"The atmosphere was electric, I have never seen anything like it.

"The whole town was on such a high and it was the perfect example of how something like football can help bring an entire community together and it was great to be part of.

The players also remained courteous and maintained a level of professionalism the club can be proud of, Mr Adams added.

"It was a raucous night, to say the least, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat," he added.

The players celebrated at Bar Twenty One the following evening with fans, who themselves had a busy Saturday.

Gareth Harper, owner of the bar, said: "It was incredible.

"It felt like the whole town descended on us after the game.

"Before the game on the last day of the season, we always give away free bacon baps and they went down really well.

"It was by far our busiest Saturday and then the players came on Sunday, which was great.

"There was just such an incredible atmosphere around the town and it was amazing for the hospitality economy in the town.

"It just goes to show how much Ipswich Town means to the town, and we can't thank the supporters enough for making Saturday and Sunday nights we won't forget."

The players also spent time visiting Revolution and celebrating with fans, as well as goalkeeper Christian Walton celebrating with fans in the Shamrock pub briefly.

After the match, members of staff at the club visited Isaacs on the Quay and had a celebration with the fans along the Waterfront.

Nathaniel Coughlan, director at Isaacs, said: "Saturday was a fantastic day of us and The Briarbank, but more importantly, for the people of Ipswich.

"We were delighted to welcome several of the staff members for a well-deserved celebration after the match.

"They led the celebrations on the balcony and Saturday will definitely be a day to remember for years to come.

"We look forward to some exciting fixtures in the Championship next season."

"Amazing atmosphere before, during and after the match.

"A sea of blue shirts and the celebrations continued long into the evening.

"It was a record day for the pub and I don't think I've ever poured so many pints in one day.

"The staff were also here partying all night."
