Rogue traders have been reported targeting homes in and around Kesgrave.

The reports have been received this morning (Wednesday, May 10) by Suffolk Trading Standards.

The traders are calling at doors and are offering to carry out block paving on driveways.

In March, another rogue trader was reported to be offering cheap trees in Coddenham.

Following the incidents in Kesgrave, Trading Standards are advising residents never to deal with traders at the doorstep and the following advice has been issued.

Homeowners should:

  • Never agree to have any work done as a result of a cold call, and don't be pressurised into having the job done immediately.
  • Get quotes from 2 or 3 traders if you think work needs doing to your home.
  • Ask for the full name and address from a trader before considering dealing with them and never rely solely on a mobile phone number.
  • Ask for a written quotation detailing all the proposed work and a final price for the job before the work is started.
  • Only pay once the work is completed to your satisfaction, don't pay up front for materials and don't pay cash.

Anyone who is approached at their doorstep should make a report to Suffolk Trading Standards via 0808 223 1133.

When reporting doorstep incidents, key information such as the description of the individual and their vehicle, including the make, model and registration, should be supplied.
