The owner of an Ipswich fitness business hopes to save more lives by bringing a prostate cancer blood screening back to her studio.
Emma Atkinson will again host a men’s blood screening in the Fitology Studio, following the success of the last year's event.
In 2022, 150 men took part in the tests, with 11 of the participants being signed into the abnormal zone in the examination.
Mrs Atkinson, a fitness instructor with more than 20 years of experience, hopes that this year other lives can be saved through the event co-organised with Suffolk Prostate Cancer Support and the CHAPS, Prostate Cancer Charity.

She said: "I hope, on the back of the success from last year, we will have many men sign up for the tests.
"I’d be very happy if we could get at least 100 men tested this year.

"The screening also gives the charity research and information which helps the NHS.
"Through this initiative, I’d like to raise awareness of prostate cancer, and my brother can be an example that events like this can save lives."
Mrs Atkinson's brother, Christopher Spall, attended a similar screening two years ago, which led to his diagnosis at the age of 47.

With no previous symptoms or history in the family, doctors confirmed he had prostate cancer and was one of the youngest men diagnosed with the disease.
Mr Spall underwent treatment to remove the cancer and, after four months returned to work.
The event takes place at Fitology Studio, 9a Gamma Terrace Masterlord Estate in Ipswich, on Tuesday, May 23 from 6 pm to 9 pm. The minimum donation for CHAPS is £30.

The event is strictly by appointment only. To sign up for the test, visit the CHAPS website.
