A horticulture team from a Suffolk land college struck gold at the Suffolk Show with their sustainable garden design.

Green fingered designers at Suffolk Rural - the Otley land-based studies arm of Suffolk New College - created a sustainable space using materials found in and around the college.

The horticulture department's Tom Green - who helped oversee the project - said it was a joint effort.

“We got other units involved including agriculture, arboriculture, animal studies, equine and facilities.

"They all chipped in with materials and helped fix bits together. Agricultural engineering students created a water feature and it has been a collaborative project. I was really pleased and happy to get gold.”

Horticulture student Marianne Barnard said it was "great" to win.

Students participated in events across the showground.

In the flower tent, floristry learners sold their wares and raised money for the Suffolk Beekeepers Association and Butterfly Conservation.
