Friends teeing off in memory of a golf-loving dad from Ipswich who died in an accident have raised more than £7,500.

Shortly before he died, Tim Melton, celebrated his 50th birthday with a golf weekend at Ufford Park.

Mr Melton died after being involved in an accident whilst working abroad for business on February 16, 2022.

To commemorate the beloved husband, dad, friend, golfer and Firetrace Ltd director, Mr Melton’s friends organised a golf tournament to support St Elizabeth Hospice, a charity that was close to his heart.

Peter Lenney, one of the friends who set up the fundraising day, said: "Tim was just one of the kindest and most genuine individuals you could ever meet.

"He was always helping people using his electrical and engineering skills, and nothing was too much trouble.

"He enjoyed playing golf, socialising with friends, and doted on his wife Michaela and daughter Georgia.

"It feels amazing to have raised so much money for this wonderful cause, and we would just like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to all who donated money and prizes, attended the events, bought tickets, and generally supported in memory of a genuinely wonderful person who is dearly missed by us all."

The event saw 32 golfers and more than 120 participants, who, during the evening raffle, raised £3,686.

The golf day was the third fundraising activity hosted in Mr Melton’s memory this year, with his colleagues from Firetrace raising funds by completing the Bungay Half Marathon.

In addition, his friend Kevin Butler completed a cycle ride, and 14-year-old Amelie Jackson, who lives with Usher's Syndrome, completed a 10-mile ride alongside her father, David.
