Proposals to demolish an existing bungalow and build four new homes in its place on land outside of Ipswich have been given the green light.

East Suffolk Council received plans for the scheme in Purdis Farm Lane in Purdis Farm, on the outskirts of the town, in June last year.

The project proposed bringing down the bungalow and replacing it with four similar homes.

A previous application to build the homes on the site was refused.

But a fresh application has now been given the go-ahead by planners at East Suffolk, with Purdis Farm Parish Council not objecting to the development.

Planning documents submitted alongside the application said: "Purdis Farm has seen a lot of development in recent years and is now a very suburban area with multiple local amenities and good access to transport infrastructure.

"The dwellings had previously been designed with a considerate but distinct character to the surrounding existing units.

"The new proposals however seek to blend in with the existing, taking numerous design cues from the surrounding houses, both in terms of material palatte and architectural features."
