Paddle boarding has grown in popularity in recent years, especially in the county of Suffolk. 

Whether it is a fun weekend activity or a relaxing evening meander down the river, it has become a fun sport to take part in.

Here are five spots in Suffolk where you are able to paddle board.

1. Alton Water 

Alton Water is one of the best places in the county for water sports. 

The 400-acre reserve is perfect for a host of activities, none more so than spending time out on the water paddle boarding. 

The centre has paddle boards which you can hire out for £19.

2. River Stour

Sudbury has plenty of spots for you to set off on your paddle boarding experience. 

Stour Valley Adventure Centre offers guided tours down the River Stour, where you can set off from multiple locations and enjoy a pint at a pub along the way. 

3. Lackford Lakes

Lackford Lakes, near Bury St Edmunds, is a popular spot for water sports enthusiast.

St Edmundsbury Sailing and Canoe Association offers stand-up paddle boards among their craft for people to hire, with the opportunity to learn the trade on a vast and expansive lake in the west Suffolk sun.

4. River Deben

The River Deben is another of Suffolk's waterways that allows for people to enjoy a paddle. 

Scattered down the scenic river are multiple points where you can set sail from and attempt to get used to your board.

5. Southwold 

If you are keen to learn the art of paddle boarding, why not start in the Suffolk sea? 

On a calm day with excellent conditions, Southwold is the perfect place for beginners to learn paddle boarding and other watersports.

Equipment can be hired from a number of outlets in the town, including Southwold Surf School.
