A 23-year-old man has been jailed after he found guilty of dealing cocaine in Ipswich.

Fabiol Rusta, of Wheely's Lane, Birmingham, was sentenced to 20 months behind bars at Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday.

Rusta has previously pleaded guilty to being in possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

Rusta had been staying in a room in the town when he was detained by officers for a drugs search on Thursday, May 25.

He was subsequently arrested after he was found to be in possession of several white rocks wrapped in cling film.

Officers then searched his room and found multiple white wraps in a plastic bag, £300 in cash and digital scales.

Detectives analysed CCTV footage and established that during a two hour and 20 minute period he entered and exited an archway near to his room at least nine times.

Suffolk police said these movements were consistent with someone street dealing class A drugs.

Rusta returned back to his accommodation within two to five minutes on each occasion.

Samples of the substances seized from Rusta and his room were subjected to a drugs identification test later that afternoon.

They both tested positive for traces of cocaine and Rusta was charged the following day.

Detective Sergeant Vince Grimsey, of the Serious Crime Disruption Team at Suffolk police, said: “The arrest of Fabiol Rusta was an excellent example of proactive policing, after officers acted on intelligence that a man was believed to be dealing drugs in Ipswich town centre.

“We will continue to take the necessary action to disrupt the supply of drugs into Suffolk and remove dealers from our streets – hopefully these types of criminal and their networks are getting the message that we are not a soft touch.”
