The discovery of 15 refrigerators found fly-tipped in a Suffolk forest has enraged an anti-litter campaigner.

Jason Alexander, from Ipswich, was made aware of the dumped fridges near Newbourne Springs in Woodbridge via a post on the NextDoor app.

He said: "I wasn’t sure if I would be able to find it, but it’s impossible to miss it as you walk along that path.

"Finding these dumped fridges in such a beautiful woodland breaks my heart and makes my blood boil!

"I just don’t understand the mentality. The individuals that do this have no respect for others or the planet.

"It’s just about making a quick buck, and to hell with what’s right and wrong.

"Many will try to blame the council for charging to dispose of appliances like these, but there is a cost to recycling and disposal, and it’s got to be covered in some way."

Mr Alexander, the founder of Rubbish Walks, added: "If you’re paying someone to take away any rubbish, always check to make sure they have a Waste Carrier License."

An East Suffolk Council spokesman said after the discovery of the fridges: “Fly-tipping is a selfish, destructive and criminal act. We would urge anyone who sees anything suspicious, or has any information concerning fly-tipping, to please report it by using our online reporting tool.

“We would also remind residents to exercise caution when using a private waste removal company and to check that they are a licensed carrier.

“You can dispose of bulky household items free of charge at a household waste recycling centre. We also offer a collection and disposal service for bulky items.”
