More than 300 unsafe lights have been detained from the Port of Felixstowe as they pose a fire hazard.

Officers from the Suffolk Trading Standards import surveillance team seized the grow lights from a consignment at the port.

Tests on the product saw the earth wire melt, while there was also access to live parts and the fuse did not have any granular filler.

As a result, the product failed to meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

The products have been removed from Amazon and will be destroyed, according to a spokesperson for Suffolk Trading Standards.
