An inquest has been opened into the death of a man from Great Blakenham who died suddenly in Nigeria.

Walter Francisco Aghama, 42, had flown to Lagos in Nigeria in January this year to attend his father’s funeral.

The court heard that Mr Aghama had remained in contact with his family in the UK throughout his stay in Nigeria, the country of his birth.

However, on January 31, his family had been unable to contact him. Later that day, a relative contacted Mr Aghama’s wife to inform her that he had been found dead in his hotel room.

The court heard that a post-mortem examination, which was carried out in the UK, has not been able to establish a cause of death.

Senior Coroner for Suffolk Nigel Parsley opened an inquest into Mr Aghama’s death at Suffolk Coroners' Court in Ipswich on Friday, August 4.

A funeral notice posted in the East Anglian Daily Times described Mr Aghama as “a wonderful husband to Gloria and a devoted father to Chamuel and Phaedra,” and “a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by all his family and friends”.
