A 37-year-old man has been charged after burglaries at a jewellers and a convenience store in Ipswich. 

David Dixon, of Fonnereau Road, has been charged following incidents that took place on August 1 and August 9. 

On Tuesday, August 1, the Kerala Store in St John's Road was broken into. 

The back door was forced open and items including cigarettes, alcohol and cash were taken.

On Wednesday, August 9, a metal bar was used to force open the shutters of Andrew Jewellers in Buttermarket.

A window was smashed and an amount of jewellery was taken from inside. 

Following enquires, police arrested a 37-year-old man on Friday, August 11 on suspicion of burglary.

Dixon was subsequently charged with two counts of burglary from a non-dwelling. 

He appeared at Suffolk Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, where he was remanded to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday, September 13.
