A spa outside Ipswich that was left scorched after a devastating huge fire in June is set to reopen over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Riverhills Health Club and Spa in Bramford has announced that it will be reopening on Saturday, August 26 – just eight weeks after a huge fire destroyed the swimming pool area.

Now that the first phase of the work is complete the club is getting ready to reopen its gym, fitness studio, cafe and restaurant in time for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.

From Saturday, August 26, members will be among the first to make use of the club's upgraded gym which has seen a £250,000 overhaul in the wake of the blaze.

Riverhills managing director Dave Courteen said: "As work gets underway to rebuild our pool area, which sustained the majority of the damage, things will look a little different for a while, especially where our spa offering is concerned but we’ll be coming back bigger and better and we’re looking forward to the club being a hive of activity once more.

"We’re particularly excited for members and guests to make use of our upgraded gym equipment which not only offers the very latest in workout technology but also adds another level to the bespoke training plans we offer to every one of our members.

"Our members have been incredibly supportive through what has been a difficult time for the whole Riverhills community."

At its height, 17 crews from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service attended the fire that started just after 12am on Friday, June 23.

The main part of the property was saved from the flames.
