Six days of sunshine and celebration have come to an end after a full on programme of events showcased a variety of talent by the seaside.

Love Felixstowe Festival came to a close on Friday, September 8, after a week of entertainment, music, cinema screenings, an air show, pop-up food demonstrations and a national bike race.

The festival, an ambitious collaboration between Felixstowe BID, East Suffolk Council and Felixstowe Town Council, attracted families from around the county to the beach.

The Art on the Prom made a return after a four-year hiatus, attracting thousands to admire the art on show.

There were Beachside Events which included free children's entertainment and an outdoor cinema, and there were food demonstrations in the town centre.

Entertainers took to the stage in Beach Street and The Front, with an aerobatic display by pilot Mark Jeffries, which attracted hundreds.

On Thursday, the town hosted the start and finish of Stage Five of the Tour of Britain, which saw some of the world's best cyclists compete on the streets of Suffolk.

Kate Cain, Felixstowe BID manager, said: "It's been many months in the planning and I could not have anticipated the level of success.

"The weather certainly helped, but the dedication of East Suffolk Council's Sarah Shinnie and Liz Baalham from Community and Co are to be applauded.

"We now look to garner resident and visitor opinion, including that of our businesses to consider future possibilities."

Residents enjoyed the weekend, with one, Caroline Corker, saying: "It was lovely to have so many visitors coming into Felixstowe.

"It was so well organised and has to be a regular event."

Greenhouse Cade owner, Alice White, which hosted a pop-up restaurant by the pier, said: "It was a brilliant week and so lovely to see so many local businesses pulling together to celebrate Felixstowe.

"We are looking forward to it becoming an annual event."
